All About This Company

Les Hewitt started the company in 1946 servicing local farm machinery. Bought by Denis Webster in 1979, the company introduced hydraulic hoses. The business was further expanded when Wayne and Christine Eyles bought the company in 1992.

Sales and service of small engine and outdoor power equipment was added as well as more hydraulic hose products and mobile servicing. Hewitt's has also introduced more tools, lubrication and accessory products for sale.

Today Hewitt's has extensive knowledge of cultivation, farm machinery and hydraulic systems.

Wayne began his working career as a fitter turner/machiner at Mace Engineering in Christchurch for nearly 5 years. He then spent 10 years working for Diesel Services in both Christchurch and Ashburton and another 2 years at Ashburton Implement Services.

Wayne came further south when he puchased Hewitt's in 1992, and 2017 marks Wayne's 25th year in business.

Wayne enjoys being a member of both the local Rotary Club and the Alfa Romeo Club, he is also an active member of the MTA. 

Kelly Nicolson - Office & Parts Manager

Kelly Nicolson - Office & Parts Manager

Kelly was just 15 years old when she started in the automotive industry working in the office side, covering service and parts. Prior to moving south, she spent 7 years managing a rural service station and workshop.

In 2006, Kelly started work at Hewitt's as Office Manager, and also specialises in parts and hydraulic hose assembly.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with Alaskan malamute dogs and is involved in sled dog clubs. If she is not hiking with dogs, Kelly also can be found catering for club events and "anyone who asks"

Kris McHaffie - Mechanic

Kris McHaffie - Mechanic

On leaving school Kris began his trade working as an Automotive Dismantler before moving into various industries and increasing his skills. He worked at Yunca Gas for 6 years as a fabricator and machine operator. He also spent 4 years working in a firewood yard before joining the team at Hewitt's in 2010.

Outside of work, Kris has a keen interest in classic and vintage cars. And in his own words he also has an interest in "deconstruction of almost anything."
